Answer» Hey all Im using a xp home edition pc its not very good , 256mb ram 60 gb hard rive but a radeon 9250 graphics card . my problem is in docments and setting its saying there nearly 20 GB THATS RIGHT 20GB WORTH OF crap in there i have checked theres nofing , no hidden files nofing .Exactly how does docments and setting tell you this? Exactly where have you "checked"?1. 1 profile just mine 2. It tells me theres 19gb of files on folders in there in owner but cookies my docments , faverites ,start menu and thats alll thats in there no hidden files just them . 3. 4. I have a funny feeling theres a virus thats cloneing my files and folders and its placeing them somewhere where i cnt FIND to easly . AVG just picked up 3 virus's norton couldnt. also i would suggest more RAM for your computer. Maybe get 512 RAM instead of 256. Your computer tends to be slightly fasterQuote from: richenstony on May 15, 2007, 05:49:00 AM 2. It tells me theres 19gb of files on folders in there in owner but cookies my docments , faverites ,start menu and thats alll thats in there no hidden files just themHow do those areas breakdown separately? Is My Documents, by far, the largest? Do you have many LARGE files in there, such as photos and music? Can you do some careful observation to try to verify that "cloneing my files and folders" you suspect is happening? In other words, right after you've run a virus scan and run CCleaner, check your drive space. Then, check again at certain intervals or after certain tasks, and see whether you see an UNEXPLAINABLE change. I found a great program to scan the HD and tell u exactly what is taking up space. Here's the download (Windows Directory STATUS a.k.a WinDirStat) Good Luck ! |
