Answer»

hi
you understand the subject?
i have big archive of my project , doc , source code , application , etc...
my archive save in cd or dvd.
i need an application that list them for me to find my stuff.
please don't offer to use Google desktop. that's unreliable.

thanksare there somebody ?I'm not exactly sure what you want here...

Are you looking for something to make a list of all the files you have on your computer/specific directory?

Also, what Operating System?i use windows xp pro
also on other pc i use fc4

it's too hard to insert DVDs or CDs one by one -> drive to fine my backup or docs.
i need a soft that make a searchable list to find my stuff and say me location of it

thanksHere is a disk cataloging tool called Visual CD that might be good for you.
"Once indexed, you can explore the CD catalogs, search files and folders without having the physical disk in the drive."

oh no
i have no space in HDD , only 80gb i can not store about 130 gb in my hdd
i need a soft that create a list for searching. LIKE google

thanksIf you haven't listed/categorised all your CD's upon burning them and/or had a good FILE management system in place when they were created there is i'm AFRAID no software on the planet that can do this for you.

But i'm still unsure about what you are asking for...in cmd ( windows ) or shell ( Linux ) some command can make a text file about contents of a dir.
you can search it.
but you can not add your explanation to it.

and
in some "file server" in OFFICE you can search your request .
but without physical search ( like search in windows , your hard working and searching )
in this "file server" you search a list of files.
i need a software like this for searching a list , not physical searching

thanks for helpingwouldn't the easiest solution be to simply label the discs? Or is this too monotonous?...
