Solve : Tool to check payment hosting providers for ecommerce applications?

Answer» HI all,
I'm throwing out a question that someone may be aware of.
Is there any way of checking an individual website's payment hosting provider?
For example, a merchant is using an unknown hosting provider when they should be using something like Sagepay/Protex/Worldpay.. is there any way of detecting what payment hosting provider they are actually using by going through their website/IP address?

I'm quite new to this, so please bare with me!
Thanks & Regards,

If I understand your question properly, the above should help.I would say if it's not PayPal or another reputable outfit i'd either contact the vendor for more info or stay away ALTOGETHER...Thanks guys
kpac, that's a pretty good tool, but when I look up something like www.ebay.com.. it doesn't give me the payment service provider called paypal??
Am I missing something? Oh, sorry. That link I posted only gives you the web hosting provider.

What is the site you have in mind? For example www.ebay.com - It's paymnet hosting provider is paypal.. I'd like to see this result. Why do you want to know this?  I believe you normally will not see the website's payment hosting provider stated on the websites of online sellers.  Can you show me a major online seller who provides that info?  How about newegg.com, amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, etc.  Do you see that info on their site?  That's a back-end, behind-the-scenes function.  Your main CONCERN should be with the reputation of the primary website, i.e. the seller.

Or course, any website that accepts financial transactions online should use secure pages for that part of their website.  This means using SSL; you'll see the SIGNS of this by http changing to https and your web browser displaying an icon indicating the page is in secure mode.
