Solve : tutorial on how to start KILLCMOS.COM at reboot using USB stick?

Answer»

Tutorial request for starting up KILLCOMS.COM at start-up using USB stick.
A step-by-step tutorial would be greatly appreciated. Is this homework?I just need it to reset the BIOS of my HP 530 I had bought the other day in a garage sale.

Tried asking the original owner what the password word was  but he forgot it.

I tried removing the cmos battery, tried a bunch backdoor password, nothing worked.

Im just a noob hoping to get some assistance.

In order to re-set a BIOS password on any laptop you need to take it to a service center...in this case HP and have them do it...
Be prepared to show proof of ownership.

PS...KillCMOS ain't gonna work. Quote from: patio on February 08, 2012, 07:59:18 PM

I agree. Still, that FREEWARE program has been updated and the author now makes this unverified claim:

If you have forgotten your CMOS password--there's no longer a need to worry! As long as you are able to boot from the floppy KILLCMOS will remove the password.
NOTE: If you're running anti-virus software, it may detect a Trojan virus in the killcmos file. This is a mistake. There is NO virus in this file.
Do not USE it The claim made above is either bogus oar deliberately misleading. A sure sign of a con artist at work.In any case, should we be publishing advice on how to circumvent security and anti-theft measures? I've lost count of the "kids changed my cmos password" or "garage sale" type stories I've seen on here.

Mind you, on HP's own forum are detailed instructions on how to either remove the password or reset the CMOS or do both.
