Solve : Typical dumb male?

Answer»

Sorry,my FIRST request was in the wrong room!
Hello All The Fundi's,I have a stupid question as usual.I had a program that came with a pc magazine freeware that could remove vocals from any track completely without distorting or changing the MUSIC.As usual I used it and never made a note of it's name, now I had to format my computer because of a virus infection damage and it's lost/gone.Somehow I remember the it GUY who INSTALLED it said it was part and parcal of the very first windows xp cd's and i cannot get/buy one.Is there any possibility you can just give me the name of it then I can search the net and buy another one?Looking forward to a positive reply   :-?
spyker1961Are you using Win XP?  Yes I am running on windows xp professionaloh I forgot, the cd I have installed is a 2002 xp. :-?"... a 2002 xp."  What do you mean?  You previously said you have Win XP Pro.  So, I don't understand the meaning of this latter comment.OK,on the CD it says "only for distribution with an HP PC windows xp professional 2002 hewlett packard company operating System CD Microsoft windows XP professional SP1
Anything I left out? Quote

Yep pretty much everything...

More info.I just needed some clarification on the "2002" part of it.  After all, the OS is Windows XP.  2002 is not part of the OS name.  [You do know that, right?]  Apparently, that was just part hewlett packard's proprietary labeling, but I think that needed to be clarified.

By the way, have you upgraded Win XP to SP2?  If not, you should.

Back to your question.  And, some clarification needed there, too.  You said the "it guy who installed it said it was part and parcal of the very first windows xp cd's."  So, in other words, he was telling you it was part of Windows, NOT SOMETHING YOU NEEDED TO BUY SEPARATELY.  So, why are you asking where you can go to buy this?  Do you think it has somehow disappeared from your Win XP?

Which other info do you require as I am DUMB with these things!Well, do you see why your post was confusing?  It's rather difficult to understand your question without more clarity on exactly what the situation was.

If you were, in fact, using some standard Windows tool, the only possibilities I can think of are Sound Recorder (to find it, go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, Entertainment), or Windows Movie Maker.  I really don't know for sure if either of them will do what you want.  If it was not one of them, then you must have obtained some software from somewhere else.  Honestly, can't you provide some info on this? The first time I saw the program it came as free cd with a pc magazine. Then I did'nt know what it could do.Then somewhere in 2003/4 an IT guy installed it and showed me what it could do,and from then I used it.Now I lost it due to a virus and reloeding and I want to PUT my head between my knees and kiss mt *rse goodbye!OK, I got a PM from you.  It sounds to me like what you were using was not something that comes with Windows.  Since I've never used software to separate the vocals from music, I don't know what you may have been using and I don't know whether you can find a freeware program or whether you'll have to shell out some money for this.  One freeware music editing tool I'm slightly familiar with is >Audacity<.  Again, I don't know whether it will do what you want.

Perhaps someone can suggest something.  If not, try Google and do some searching.I heard of Audacity but dont know how to use it.I can only hope and pray that someone somewhere has some info regarding the program name so I can buy it.Many thanx for using your precious time to help me with this.Do you maybe have contact details so that I can try and contact microsoft themselves to try and find the program name?I think that is my only way out.Try searching here, http://support.microsoft.com/, or see the Microsoft software offerings from Amazon.com.
