You can try CPU-Z, but I don't think it will do any better: http://www.cpuid.com/ Keep working from the Device Manager, until no more Yellow Exclaimation Marks. It's an Asus motherboard with a mix of chips, not all from the same manuf. Download and save the drivers in a safe place, so you never have to do it again.universal audio architecture. high definition audio bus driver. the original driver won't install without it. that's what i went to google for. i did the wrong thing, sorry. my fault. i should have came here and asked. i thought i GOT the right thing and it seemed to install properly. unfortunately it didn't work. so do i have the drivers installed for the chipset properly? by the way, thanks for all the help. my "driver" skills leave alot to be desired. i forgot to MENTION that i am still getting that same error about the audio drivers.Realtek ALC 883 chipset from this (your specs). This will work: http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4902 Windows 2000/XP WHQL Supporting: ALC880, ALC882, ALC883, ALC885, ALC888, ALC889, ALC892, ALC861VC, ALC861VD, ALC660, ALC662, ALC663, ALC665, ALC260, ALC262, ALC267,ALC268, ALC269, ALC270, ALC272, ALC273, ALC887,ALC670, ALC275, ALC680 I use the same driver on 1 of my P4's. 1 driver PACKAGE covers most all the Realtek audio chips. i'm doing it right now. thanks. HP/Compaq = www.support.hp.comacknowledged. i have to reboot. those drivers seemed to do the same thing as the others did. Quote from: ejames82 on June 07, 2010, 07:20:18 PM ...i have to reboot. those drivers seemed to do the same thing as the others did.If it doesn't work: 1. The chip is dead. 2. Speakers are disconnected. 3. Volume too low. 4. You need a hearing aid (LOL).i have here a screenshot of cpu-z [recovering disk space - old attachment deleted by admin]CPU-Z matches the spec for the chipset GeForce 6150 LE from the spec, GeForce 6150 from CPU-Z close enough!! What about the audio?sorry if i am mixing up the subjects (audio, chipset, vise versa) so do you think the chipset drivers are squared away? here is a screenshot of the device manager, just taken. the yellow exclamation point that was at the usb is now gone. still a problem with audio. i must be doing something wrong. all i have been doing is running the exe after downloading it. [recovering disk space - old attachment deleted by admin]Chipset is done. They are under System Devices. Highlight each of the 3 Exclaims separately and press the DEL key. If they don't come back, you're done. You can look at the other ones (Sound, Network, Display Adapter) by clicking on the +sign in front of each, then take a new screen shot. Driver Names & Device Manager Names are not a direct match, which could be confusing you, too. Audio=Sound, video & game controllers Graphics=Display Adapter LAN=NetworkComputer_Commando, excellent post. i remember seeing the "exploded view" of the system devices back when i installed the chipset drivers. that installation went without any fuss whatsoever, but being a newbie, i'm always thinking that something went wrong. the chipset issue can be laid to rest. [recovering disk space - old attachment deleted by admin]oops, wrong screenshot. [recovering disk space - old attachment deleted by admin]lol, CHECK this out. it happened after reboot.
