Solve : Unable to load graphics conversion filter.?

Answer»

I received an email that had an attachment that contained an information package for a job I was going to apply for. When I tried to open the attachment, it went to a Wordpad document, but then a box came up "Microsoft Word 97 Conversion" with the message "Unable to load graphics conversion filter. Continue with document conversion?" If I click on "Yes" it just shows the same message. If I click on "No", a new box "WordPad" comes up with the message " An unexpected error occurred while reading C:\Documents & Settings\My Name\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\ContentIE5\RF45Q6E5. I am using Outlook Express on Windows XP and would like to know if I can do anything to be ABLE to read this document or OTHERS I may receive in the future. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
KellyM.Word 97 may not have the filter.
Do you know the file type?
Is this a Auto-Cad file?
Not SURE what type of file it is. When I try to open the attachment it comes up as :- Name: 18-10-CCA Application Pack Template.doc
Type: Wordpad Document
That's all I can tell you. Thanks-KellyM.It should be a Word document. You may need a new VERSION of MS word to open it. Is the document the one mentioned here from UCLA?

The PDF is a report and is not the Template you need for your work. I think you may need to use office 2007 to read it. Sorry we can not think of anything else.

A .doc file is a Word file, not Wordpad. I suggest you download the free AbiWord and try using it to open the file. Or, you could get OpenOffice.org, which has a more powerful word processor than AbiWord. OpenOffice is a full office suite (word processor, spreadsheet, etc.), and it's free.
Thanks guys for your suggestions. Unfortunately, the date for applying for this job has passed, but I will look into some of the things you have suggested for future attachments I might receive. Thanks again.

Wordpad on XP can open most word documents. evidently this is an exception. also, documents in wordpad often go by the doc extension.Normally .doc files are MS Word files. They can be opend with WordPad, but
they may not display correctly because WordPad does not have all the
features that MS Word does.
