Answer» Hello, First of all I want to apologize ahead of time b/c I'm not very technically inclined with the computer. Typing and playing with pictures and such is the extent of my knowledge. Okay, here is the problem. Any help is greatly appreciated. I went to put pictures from my camera to my computer and they wouldn't load. So I went to My Computer to see if it was even reading on the drives, whichever one I plugged it into ie: G: H: J: I: etc. They were all missing. I only see D: and E: for my CD/DVDs. All the drives for the USB and camera card slots on the front of my tower are gone. I switched log in names to se if that made a difference, it did not. I did a system restore to a month prior, even though I put photos from the camera to the computer a week ago, to see if that would help, it did not. Any suggestions? Thank you. I use windows XP with a Dell computer.Hello:
Please ANSWER to these questions:
Please LET me know whether computer is able to detect any USB devices?
Have you installed the Drivers of your Camera?
Please perform the steps PROVIDED below:
OPEN Device Manager by following the below steps:
Click on Start > select Run-> Type in "devmgmt.msc" without the quotes. Click OK.
Do you see any "Unknown Devices" or "Other Devices" listed anywhere in Device manager?
Let me know whether there are any red or yellow marks on the device listed there.
Click on the + sign near DISK Drives and let me know the names of drives listed there?
Please answer all these if possible. Also let us know the model number of your Dell computer/Laptop.
Regards
Sykes
Thanks so much for replying! I kind of gave up hope there! I opened up Device Manager, there are no "unknown devices". It does not detect the USB cable when plugged into the front of the computer, there are two spots for that, and it does not detect the camera memory card when I use that. The printer is working fine, it is plugged in with a USB cable in the back of the computer. Under Disk Drives it reads "ST3250824AS" and under DVD/CD ROM Drives it reads "SONY CDRWDVD CRX3105" & also "TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-H553A". The model # of my Dell is DXP061. Thanks for any help!
TracyHave you tried hooking the camera up with the card in it to a USB port on the rear of the machine ? ?I did try that. It didn't work. I am not sure why.
