Solve : uninstall windows xp question? |
|
Answer» Ok, so I have 2 installations of windows xp on the same partition. The reason is not very important and was basically just a result of me being dumb. Is there a way to uninstall one of them without affecting the other? Thanks. Is there a way to uninstall one of them without affecting the other?Very very unlikely. I'm AFRAID you probably need to start again from scratch. Backup data, reformat, reinstall. You may be able toget by editing the boot.ini file and then deleting the unneeded installation.Removing just one is likely to leave some untidy conflicts under C:\Program Files...No doubt. I always prefer a fresh install over a FUBAR setup personally.no QUESTION about it BU, FFR, you could go through and make it work by cleaning up the extra installation but I would nip it in the bud and get it right before you get too much going on. Dont want a fouled REGISTRY and orphaned programs. Back Up Fdisk Format Reinstallok thanks all. yeah, i'm just gonna reformat. umm one more question then. i want to save all my old EMAILS from outlook express, what files do i keep and where do i put them after i reformat so that i'll have all my emails? You need to backup both your e-mail and your address book. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q270670 |
