Answer» Well, I have a computer I was given. Since it had a bunch of STUFF on it that I didn't want or need I decided to format it. Well, I just finished formating the computer and reinstalling Windows XP when I find that some of the stuff on it can't be installed.
-Ethernet Controller -Multimedia Audio Controller -Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller -Video Controller -Video Controller (VGA Compatible)
And I'm not sure which ones I actually need. Because right now my main problem is that I can't connect to the internet. I know it was working before 'cause I had tested it out before I formated.
So if anybody could help me install these some how I would greatly appreciate it.
~LoserVisit the website of the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard and download drivers for those devices.I feel really stupid for asking this, but where can I find who made it?
All I see is the type of processor, "Powered by ASUS", and then on the back there is a CE logo.

Okay, that is what it says.Quote Motherboard Name-Asus A7V8X (6 PCI, 1 AGP, 3 DDR DIMM) There should be a driver link or Asus hotlink in this section...click on it and it will take you to their drivers page.Okay, I found what I need (I think). If anybody has time to make a quick post and tell me what to do I'd be grateful. But for now I'm trying to figure it out.
I'm using http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us the LAN download.
*Edit: Okay well I have no clue what to do. So someone please help. Just download it and extract the zip archive. (right click it and select extract) Then you need to go to the device MANAGER. Right click "my computer" and select properties. Select the "hardware" tab and press "Device manager" Now find a yellow question mark with the text "Ethernet Controller" Right click it and select update driver. In the window where you can either install it automatically or from a list. Select "Install from a list..." and press next. In the next window browse to the folder you extracted and press next. That should install it.
You will also need the audio driver from the ASUS site.
And a graphics card driver from here. http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/radeon-prer300-xp.htmlI'd just like to say thank you to all the people that have helped me. My other computer is now updated and can connect to the internet. Thank you all so much, you all have been a huge help.
