When I start my pc and login it takes about 1min 20sec for most of programs to become responsive. Half my desktop ICONS are white and my start up programs that appear in the hidden icons window at the bottom RIGHT (avast/malwarebytes) don't load until that time as well. MKV, jpegs, folders and some programs like nvidia geforce experience work though. If I wait at the login screen for the 1min 20sec and then login everything boots right AWAY and no problems. This just recently started HAPPENING 4 days ago and im not sure what could be the issue. Have not installed anything recently.Firstly it sounds like its time for a clean build of the system, maybe its been a while. Next I'd ditch the HDD and upgrade to a SSD which would give you a faster boot, and SSD's of 120GB can be picked up for around $19 with large capacity available for more money. Then if you need the HDD capacity and its a desktop computer you can have the HDD installed for the extra storage capacity. LASTLY the SSD will benefit you also by speeding up your computers ability to read and write from memory for the paging/virtual memory so the systems performance overall will act like a fresh new computer as long as the main board and video card or internal GPU are healthy.
