Answer» Greetings, Any suggestions re how to upgrade a panasonic toughbook cf-25 from win95 to win98se when the laptop only has a floppy drive and no usb ports?truenorthCD drive ? ? If so DLoad a Win98SE disk from bootdisk.com and use it to create a bootable floppy. Power down and re-boot from the floppy. At the A: prompt type D: and hit ENTER...have the Win98 CD in... Type SETUP and hit Enter and the install should proceed.patio, i wish--no no cd drive only a floppy.truenorthThen you will need the Win98SE floppy set to do this...13 floppies if my memory hasn't completely failed me...Patio,youch! that was the conclusion i too had come to but hoped more advanced heads would have some more miraculous way of doing it.thanks for your input.truenorth P.S. This antique (which still sells on eBay frequently for more than $200.00 has the ability to swap the 3 1/2 for a cd-r drive (if you had one) which unfortunately i do not.The laptop CD drive would probably cost that much...
patio, yes you are correct it can. However with patience you can occasionally (i missed one by less that 2 minutes once) find one in a cf-25 being sold as NON working that has the cd-r drive in it instead of the 3 1/2.I have had the one i own for over 3 years before i was able to find the adapter that would allow me to verify that it actually would work,( i could have easily found the adapter if i was prepared to spend from $80.00 to $200.00 rather than the eventual $5.75 i did pay)having done that i would like to upgrade the O/S to SOMETHING a little closer to the CURRENT century. So as with many of my computer projects it remains a work in progress. truenorth
