Answer» I have an HP G56 laptop which I bought two weeks ago. All of a sudden none of my usb ports work. I checked the device manager and they all show an exclamation mark in a yellow triangle. I'm not sure how to re-activate them, any ideas. Thanks DavidI have read about a system recovery restoring the USB ports to life, but you'd have to back up ANYTHING you want to KEEP, I guess on CDs/DVDs or via a network since the USB ports are not available...

But I wouldn't do any fiddling about inside. If that doesn't work and it is under warranty, don't monkey with it, TAKE it back or contact the vendor. Is this the COMPUTER? http://www.walmart.com/ip/HP-XG598UA-ABA/14978549no, it's this one :

There must be a more easier way to get the usb's working again without having to do a system recovery, surely..RIGHT clik all instances of USB roots and hubs and select Remove... You will get a warning...ignore it. Re-boot.
