Solve : USB Port/Driver Help!! PLEASE!!!!?

Answer»

I have a Compaq Evo with windows xp. I just got it today and I THOUGHT everything worked fine until I tried to plug in my ipod into the USB drive. I did not buy this new, and I cant figure out how to fix the problem. Can someone please help me. I REALLY need to use my USB ports. I checked the device manager and there is nothing that refers to the USB ports/drivers. I really need some help please. Thank youWhat was not new when purchased...the Compaq or the iTune player ? ?
Does the player work on any other machines ? ?

More info...And have you tried a DIFFERENT usb device to see if the ports work? The computer was not new when I bought it. The ipod works fine on other computers. And yes IVE tried to plug in a usb drive and nothing happens at all.
Travel to Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager...

EXPAND all instances of USB roots and Hubs by clicking them...
Right clik each one and select remove/uninstall....you will recieve an error message...ignore it.
After removing all instances of roots and hubs re-boot....Windows will re-install them automatically.

NOTE: Do this with only the bare minimum USB devices hooked up to the machine.

NOTE #2: If this does not produce joy - joy you will need to re-install the MBoard chipset drivers...
