I am running Windows XP home edition (Service pack 3) on a COMPAQ Presario R3000
Recently my computer was worked on by my "computer man" and after the service pack 3 update the USB ports stopped working.
I have unistalled them in device manager and restarted the computer. The computer recognizes the new hardware and when prompted I have INSERTED the computers application and driver recovery DVD and selected update drivers.
The process begins HOWEVER halfway through the process it stops and states that access is denied.
I have been told to do a windows recovery....I have looked and looked and there is NO driver available anywhere, this is a simple question and microsoft and compaq have NO ANSWERS.
I am incredibly frustrated and need ASSISTANCE spelled out very simply.
Thank youI would try re-installing the MBoard chipset drivers from Compaq or from the Driver CD that shipped with the machine...
