Solve : Using Laptops? |
|
Answer» I still haven't purchased a PC. I have no room in my cramped apartment for a PC so I'd like to get a laptop. The problem is that I have difficulty using the laptops' touchpad. I was told that all laptops can be connected to a REGULAR keyboard and mouse. Is this true? Maybe it's only true for certain brands. If true, where would I connect the keyboard and mouse into the laptop? I've surfed the internet for years but have no knowledge about hooking-up a home PC. Do laptops all come with detailed instructions about how to hook-up. I know I have to get a router as I have no WiFi in my area.As far as I know, every laptop can be USED with a mouse. I was told that all laptops can be connected to a regular keyboard and mouse. Is this true?Yes. Quote from: Myron on May 28, 2009, 06:57:15 AM If true, where would I connect the keyboard and mouse into the laptop? Most likely, to a USB port. Some laptops may also have a PS/2 port, so a PS/2 keyboard would also be an option in that case. A mouse/keyboard COMBO package like this might serve your purposes quite well: Logitech EX 110 Black USB + PS/2 Standard Cordless Desktop Keyboard & Mouse Kit - Retail I use mouse with my laptop and love it. You may want to disable your touchpad so that you don't accidentally touch it when you have a mouse connected. I believe all laptops now allow disabling the touchpad.Myron,Another option depending on your physical situation that is available is a WIRELESS mouse/keyboard option.Still requires the USB connection but only for the receiver allowing you more choices of mouse/keyboard locations. But i would be interested in your answer to Fairadir's QUESTION re why you want an additional keyboard when most certainly you have one already on your laptop? truenorthYes, a wireless mouse for a laptop is quite nice. Also, if you expect to be carrying your laptop from place to place, a mini mouse is slightly easier to pack up and carry, due to their smaller size. The answer to the keyboard question is a matter of aesthetics. Laptop keyboards can be difficult to use. They "feel" different. So, why not, when not travelling, connect a regular keyboard to the laptop if it make things easier. I do it quite often! |
