Solve : video card problems win 98se (on 2or 16 colors)?

Answer»

i'm fixing a friends comp.  her brother installed win 98 se.  it put the standars pci graphics adapter instead of the right ONE.  my problem is, i have no documentation for the comp so i can't figure out what the card is.  i read through many of the posts on here and tried the dxdiag trick.  it said STANDARD pci graphics adapter.  i tried going to the device manager, same thing.  i tried going to system info, same thing.

anyone have any other suggestions?  i don't have internet access on her comp so i can't go that route.

i do know it's an older gateway, pIII, 64mb ram.  can't even FIND anything on gateway's site.

any HELP would be greatly appreciated.Does the device manager show that the drivers are installed and that the device is working properly? When you boot a computer the first thing that will show on the monitor is the video card information (even before you see processor or memory information).  So shut the computer down, then power it back on (don't do a restart), when something appears on the screen hit the PAUSE key on your keyboard and note the video information displayed on the monitor.
