Solve : Videos freeze computer?

Answer»

I'm running Windows XP but had the same problem running 2000. When I try to play a DVD or open a downloaded video file (any format) my computer doesn't exactly lock up but moves extremely slow. The DVD or file doesn't play and I end up having to end the program from TASK manager. The computer then returns to normal speed immediately. This only started happening one night after I HELD the power BUTTON in to shut the computer down since I was tired and thought it was taking too long (bad mistake). I had to reinstall windows, I tried putting XP on after this problem, but it still persists. Any thoughts?Do you know your system specs?Hey All,
I got videos working by turning hardware acceleration off. I'm not sure how that helps, but it did. I'm going to try moving it up to some acceleration and see if that makes a difference. Take it easy.Ok, glad you got it working. Thanks for REPLYING.
