Answer» I'm running Windows XP but had the same problem running 2000. When I try to play a DVD or open a downloaded video file (any format) my computer doesn't exactly lock up but moves extremely slow. The DVD or file doesn't play and I end up having to end the program from TASK manager. The computer then returns to normal speed immediately. This only started happening one night after I HELD the power BUTTON in to shut the computer down since I was tired and thought it was taking too long (bad mistake). I had to reinstall windows, I tried putting XP on after this problem, but it still persists. Any thoughts?Do you know your system specs?Hey All, I got videos working by turning hardware acceleration off. I'm not sure how that helps, but it did.
