Solve : Visioneer Scanner 5600usb?

Answer»

This scanner runs real GOOD on my XP machine.
Manufacturer has discontinued this model.
I'm currently running WIN 7 on a laptop.
How can I get Win 7 to recognize this scanner ?
I have downloaded the drivers, but they only support up to XP.
HarryHow is the laptop connected to the printer ? ? USB ?
If so does it show up in Control Panel/Printers after re-booting ? ?
If that works make sure it's set as default printer...same place.

If no to any of the above there is an XP Compatibility MODE plugin from MS that would need to be installed...and then startup in XP Mode and install the printers XP drivers...

Other than that the only other option would be to setup the PC's on a Home network and try it that way...a bit more involved though...You can't. No support, no drivers.

You'll have to buy a Windows 7 compatible scanner. Quote from: patio on January 19, 2012, 11:46:26 AM

You must have Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate to run Windows XP Mode.

MS Virtual PC 2007 might work.  It's free from MS. Quote

Ummm...not anymore.When I select Win7 Home Premium 64-bit, I get this message:
You are not eligible to download Windows XP Mode. You must have Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate to run Windows XP Mode. To upgrade visit Windows 7 Anytime Upgrade. Just realised as a Member of TechNet is why it's available  for me with no restrictions.I knew there had to be a good reason.
BTW, I have no interest in running XP Mode on my Win7-64 laptop.  I use Virtual PC from TIME to time to run "pure DOS".
