Hi,i WANT to create a windows service programme that is able to detect installed software on windows operating system and is able to send an automated email to the administraor.but i don't quite understand it even after i have done my research on windows service.
This is my first time using windows service.Hope to get response soon.Thank you.It is not quite so hard... you should just override OnStart , OnStop and create a pooling mechanism using a Timer (not a UI timer control) .

Also sending an email is not so hard... there are already .net classes written for that.... you should check a book for MCP, EXAM 70-536 all these requirements are COVERED in that book.

As programming language i recommend you C# for this task.
