Answer» Can anybody recommend a program that would ALLOW me to view what my webcam see's? I don't want to connect to SOMEONE elses computer or anything, i just want to use the webcam as a camera for fun. Thanks for any help.
By the way, using a Logitech camera if it mattersUsually all the programs for a webcam come on a CD with the hardware. Check out this site, pick out your hardware and follow the link to the software download.
Logitech
Thanks. why didn't i look in that site I'm downloading what i think is the right thing
EDIT: I got the program I have two ways I can view my webcam, without actually sharing with another computer. One is NetMeeting; the other, Yahoo MESSENGER.
Correction ... three ways. The other is the software that came with my cheap webcam. It also allows capture.
Windows Messenger will display video from a webcam but only when connected with another person/computer. I believe other INSTANT messenging programs probably also allow use of a webcam but I don't know whether they only work when online with another person. As stated above, Yahoo Messenger does allow me to see it without being online with another person.
I also discovered that Windows Movie Maker can be used to capture video from my webcam. That's not something I'd want to do much; the files it creates are huge.
Apparently, I could also mix audio with video using the capture features of Windows Movie Maker or my webcam software. I haven't tried that.
Carbon Dudeoxide ..... If you are using a logitch webcam........ The software which came with it has that ability . Once you have the software installed and you are prompted to plug in the webcam .......... then you should have a cam window open , and you can see exactly the Cameras field of vision..... I use a logitech Quickcam and it works perfectly..... If you click on the cam icon down near the time display, a vertical webcam panel opens ........ then click on the one I have indicated and the actual webcam will open and you will see the image that will be sent . When you are on the logitech site ...... look to see if there is a newer version of the drivers available......... if there are , D/L them and save them to say your desktop........ then unplug your cam , remove the existing software and then reinstall the new software you D/L ..... ***Don't FORGET to go off line , and then disable your Anti-virus app before installing the new software ....... Don't forget to enable your Anti-Virus before going back on-line Hope this helps you.
