Yes, it will protect your computer.  It will ALSO use a HECK of a lot of your resources to the degree that almost everything else will go on a slow-down and all sorts of other "funny" things may occur..

As far as my pc's are concerned I wouldn't install anything which has the name Norton (or Symantec) attached to it.

Before you buy, try AVG (free) teamed with Zone Alarm or Comodo firewall (both free) and SpywareBlaster (also free).

Ditto. Same goes for McAfee.Preach It Broni!!!I use Norton Internet Security 2007 and dont find all that great jimmyyy, the only THING i like about it is the firewall, Dusty & Broni are right, stick with Zone Alarm, Comodo and AVG anti-virus, i find Avast anti-virus SO much better than Norton, it picks up viruses that norton can't detect! you can get a free home version at www.avast.com Quote

I'm really CURIOUS what kind of BIG money those two giants pay to computer vendors to pre-install that kind of garbage on every single new computer.
