Answer» I am TRYING to install a driver because I currently have NO sound. This is KILLING me!
I have Win XP, a SoundMax integrated audio card but the driver appears to be old or just not working??
I have un-installed the device and restarted. Windows picks up the old driver as the best one but it obviously doesn't WORK...
Can someone help pls???!!!
Download, and install Everest: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html Open it, click Computer, then Summary. In upper menu, go Report>Quick Report-Summary Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post. Don't include anything under line Debug - PCI ;)Hey thanks for that.
I'm guessin these are the lines you need... if not, I'll post the rest...

I remember un-installing the device and then my pc picked up there was soundmax and installed the device again, so yeh... OK. I can see Intel 82801BA ICH2 - AC'97 Audio Controller [B-5] as your on-board sound. Why did you think, it's Soundmax? Do you have maybe separate sound card?5.12.01.3620 A (16 Oct 2003) should also work with XP.
