Solve : Window media player won't burn as MP3?

Answer»

I have music files that I KNOW are MP3s but when I try to burn them to a CD using either Sonic of Windows Media Player they show up as a 1 KB AUDIO file..These are one minute radio ads that I need to give to clients as MP3 - I can email them as attachments to radio stations as MP3s just fine but can't seem to burn them as such. I can't FIND any settings to change. I know that WMP stores as WMAs, not MP3s, but I am pulling these out of files using Explorer. I just tried copying a CD of MP3s and it did the same thing - it showed up as I KB files - the size should be closer to 500 to 900 KB for this size of file. I upgraded to WMP 10 tonight but that has not helped. I am using ordinary CD - Rs. They play just fine but that is not the point - radio stations need them as MP3s and so do some clients. HEELLPPP!!!!!barbyb... So you are using WMP10 ........ and you have mp3 audio files .......
go to where your audio files are stored and open them up in WMP , click burn , and it will prompt you to add the file to the burn list ..... once you have them on the burn list , click on the start burn button.

I just BURNT a cd using WMP 10 and it work just fine .

I have attached a screen shot for you.

Let us know how it goes.

dl65 That is exactly what I did - and yes it does seem to work fine but when I put the CD I just burned back in the drive and click on Explore and then click on that CD drive to see what is on the CD is shows up as this stupid 1 KB file. If I try to attach the file to an email from the CD drive itself it also shows up as a 1 KB file which means anyone I email it to can't use it. When you burnt your CD does it show up as an MP3 when you did an Explore check on it??? there must be some setting I am not tweaking right but there does not seem to be any to tweak!
