i hers about this os based on like xp and VISTA or SOMETHING and someone said it was legal but im not entirely sure if it is or not so is it legal?It's illegal XP version.

As far as downloading from the net, you can download an ISO or some other working bundle of windows someone uploaded (original, not any modified versions) that will accept your legal cd key that you have legally obtained, which is essentially doing same as above.


Downloading and installing any other XP like XP black or any other bundle not requiring any cd key or a cd key is provided to you with the download is illegal. Quote

The US Copyright Office's FAQ also puts it quite plainly:
