this is a problem that ive been TRYING to fix for about 7 weeks now (i THINK). I can't download/install any programs. I am using windows XP. I've tryed EVERYTHING that ive read on the same problem and that i can think of but nothing has worked. I dont know what caused this all i know is that i started around late september.

this is what the error message says:
"WIndows Installer service cannot be accessed. This can occur in you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the WIndows Installer is not correctly installed. CONTACT your service provider for assistance."


by the way, i cannot erase everything on my computer. I have valuable files that i need. Is there also another way to do it without DELETING everything? I also can't find any of the windows discs for installing the computer so i also have to do without that to fix it.
