Solve : Windows Media player won't run, can't dbl click on a video file and lauch it?

Answer»

Out of the blue I am not able to either launch Windows Media Player, or go via windows explorer to the directory where all my videos are (that have been downloaded off the web from different sources) and double click on an item and play it. I get these messages:
"C:\Programs (x86)\Windows\player\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe" "You cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate PERMISSIONS to access them." - When I click "OK" that MESSAGE goes AWAY and another takes it's place -
"Windows can't open this item. It may have been moved, renamed, or deleted. Do you want to delete this item?" - and I clicked no and am back to where I was when I tried launching WMplayer.
Help!!!
I have run a scan in both Malwarebytes and in Spyhunter 4 and they say that I have no problems. Nor did Norton find anything. I also ran a scan with Windows Defender and it said my computer is running normally.
I am running 64 bit eMachine W Windows 7 Home PREMIUM on an eMachine w/ a Pentium Dual Core E5300 @ 2.6Ghz, 4GB RAM.how long ago did this start happening? if it was fairly recent you can just system restore to a point where you knew it was working and do a system file check (sfc)
