I've noticed that my COMPUTER hasn't been getting updates regularly. When the computer first starts up, the Windows Update icon (the yellow one with the black exclamation point) shows up on the taskbar. No matter how long it's on there for, the download is always at 0%. This happens everytime my computer is first started up.

I know that my computer is set up for automatic updates.

I tried to go to the Microsoft website myself to get updates, but it says I don't have Active X controls (which I don't know if I have or not) when I go to the update pages. There is also supposed to be an option for downloading pop up, but nothing does. This is what it says when I go to the page for Microsoft updates.

When I go to the page for Windows updates ( http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ ), it never loads. It's just a big, blank white page. So I can't get updates that way either.

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?DazzleKitty,

I have gone to the site, there is something definetly wrong with this page, if I were you I would do a search for MS updates and select another site of which there should be many.

I know the blank page is a problem that many people have. I actually just updated to IE 7 last night, and when I go to the updates page, it's a different link. It still says I need ActiveX controls to view that site. Do you guys know where I can get ActiveX?

I have been able to get updates regulary for a long time. But something odd happened last night. A while after I posted the message, my computer got 2 new updates. So apparently, the automatic updates must be working right (even if the download is always at 0%), but I can't go to the website to download the updates.

I have Windows XP, and I think I have the Service Pack 2. I have Norton and Windows Defender for anitvirus and spyware. I also SCAN often with Spybot and Adaware. I'm very certain I have no viruses or spyware.

Do you guys think this is a serious problem? I'm always overly paranoid when I have computer issues like this. Please enlighten me!
