Answer» Hi everyone. I'm trying to fix my brother's old computer which he USES just for pictures and music. No on-line stuff. He said his sound was working one day and not working the next day. I get the message that no sound device is installed. Also, the drivers for the device cannot be loaded because they may be corrupted or missing. I moved the sound card to a new slot and and tried to download new drivers for the card which is Creative Audio PCI- ES1371, ES1373 WDM but still no sound. I'm wondering if a new re-install of the OS would fix this problem? A re-install of the OS sounds a bit drastic...does the card show up properly in Device Manager ? ? Do you have a different sound card you can try?I tried at different sound card but I get the same problem with drivers. Quote My guess, however, is that the card needs to be replaced. The computer recognizes the card but can't find the drivers. I think I found the correct drivers but I can't install them.Do not allow the system to look for drivers. You need to download them yourself from the link Patio posted and then run the install routine. |
