Solve : Would win98 run in nowadays fast CPUs?? |
|
Answer» Hi! I was just wandering... how would win98SE run in latest-tech machines (talk about dual core CPUs)? I mean will it run at all? I always liked win98SE rather than XP or Vista, but never tried it on anything faster than a P3 500mhz... ... Somewhere in the depths of my old BRAIN, I'm getting the feeling that this is 512M, not 1G. But I can't remember enough details to do anything more than toss this out there, and hope it is not too far off the mark. I'm sure you'll check around and find out. I thought I had some good stuff on it in my bookmarks, and so far have found: http://www.dewassoc.com/support/win98/win9x_512memory.htm but that is not the one that I was looking for. If I COME across more sites/pages, I'll POST links. Edit: some mention of it in this thread. I wouldn't imagine Win98 supporting dual core, as even XP Home does not. Not sure about any other issues, but drivers could be a problem with newer hardware, as could support. As patio suggested, Win2k would be a good choice, it's fairly similar to 98 in look and feel from my point of view but better (again, only my opinion). |
