Solve : XP not recognizing SATA drive? |
Answer» I have a new HP Pavilion. It came with a home version of Windows Vista. I need to have XP on it to run the software I need on this system. When I tried to reformat the drive that came with the unit I got a blue screen that said the drive was bad and I could not go any further, but I could go back to the hard drive and it acted normally (still having Vista installed) I thought maybe HP protected the hard drive somehow so I bought a new drive and disconnected the old drive and installed the new drive. With my Windows disc in I still get the same message. I did some research and FOUND that XP would probably not recognize a SATA drive so I would have to hit F6 during the install and install a SATA driver for the motherboard, but I have not been able to FIND a SATA driver download. Anybody have any ideas? Would it be possible for me to do a duel BOOT, maybe? |
