Solve : xvid to divx?

Answer»

Does anyone have a suggestion of the BEST and EASIEST to use xvid to divx converter? (Windows xp)Isn't that the same? My father has a dvd player in his house. I know it will play Divx cause it says it on the player, what i'm not sure is if it plays Xvid. Is it the same?NOBODY makes Xvid to DivX converters because there's no point. They are both Mpeg4. Xvid is open source, DivX is not. Otherwise they are more or less the same. If the DVD player will play DivX it should play Xvid no problems. Mine does.

I am wondering... why don't you just burn a disk and try it?
It's a birthday gift to my father and I wanted it correct the first time out, thanks for the help!If you have both Xvid and Divx codecs on your system you can use software such as Virtualdub (FREE) to convert between one and the other but quality may suffer.

Instead of converting your Xvid to DivX, try running it through MPEG4Modifier.
