You can't. It uses what's called an API to CHECK whether a particular user is online or not, and is available to everyone.
If you don't want to be seen online, then just don't sign in.how do these sites WORK

Even moreSome of them used to work by forcing/initiating a conversation CONNECTION with you, if the connection was made, it would immediately terminate it and then it would report a online status.
However if you set your account so only those in your contact list can SEE your online status, it will ALWAYS return offline.
