State the principle of an electric generator. Write any two differences between electric motors and electric generators. |

Answer» Solution :An ELECTRIC generator WORKS on the principle of electronromagnetic induction when a closed coil is rotated in a uniform MAGNETIC field with its axis perpendicular to the direction of the field. The magnetic field lines passing through the coil changes and induce POTENTIAL differences. Hence a cirrent is SET up in it. Electric motor * It converts electrical energy into mechanical energy * It works on the principle of magnetic field of electric current. Electric generator * It converts mechanical energy into electrical energy * It works on the principle of electromagnetic induction. |
