Steps taken by government to ensure the increase in agricultural production

Answer» Since the period of the Five Year Plans, the government had been adopting several measures in order to stimulate agricultural production in our country. These include :- 1) Abolition of Zamindari system.2) Collectivisation and consolidation of land holdings.3) Land reforms (like equitable land distribution and land ceiling.)4) Green revolution = movement of 1960s to boost foodgrain production in India.5) White revolution = Also known as Operation Flood, emphasized on making India the largest producer of milk across the world.6) Comprehensive land development programme :- a) Crop insurance.b) Setting up Grameen banks and cooperative societies.
Government has made concerted efforts to ensure the increase in agricultural production since 1951. (i) Abolition of Zamindari system. (ii) Ceiling on landholdings where maximum limit towards ownership was fixed by government. (iii) Consolidation of small landholdings into a large one where mechanisation is possible.2
