The eye of the nocturnal birds like owl are having a large cornea and a large pupil. How does it help them ?

Solution :(i) The large pupil open wider and allows the maximum AMOUNT of light to enter the EYE in the dark .
(ii) Their lens is large and situated near the retina . This ALSO alloes a lot register on the retina . Retina contains 2 types of light sensing cells rods and cones.
(iii) Cones are responsible for coloured vision and require bright , focused light.
(iv) Rods are extremely sensitive to light and have a PHOTO sensitive pigment CALLED rhodopsin which plays vital role in night vision.
