1.

The sum of the two numbers is \(\frac{5}{9}\). If one of the numbers is \(\frac{1}{3}\), find the other.

Answer»

Given that,

Sum of two numbers = 5/9
One of the number = 1/3
By using the formula,
Other number = sum of number – given number

= 5/9 – 1/3

\(=\frac{(5\times1-1\times3)}{9}\\=\frac{(5-3)}{9}\\=\frac{2}{9}\)

\(\therefore\) the other number is \(\frac{2}{9}\)
