The sum of two numbers is \(\frac{-1}{3}\) . If one of the numbers is \(\frac{-12}{3}\) , find the other

Answer»

It is given that,

The sum of the two numbers = \(\frac{-1}{3}\)

One of the number = \(\frac{-12}{3}\)

Suppose the other number is x

Since, the sum is \(\frac{-1}{3}\)

Therefore,

x - \(\frac{12}{3}\) = \(\frac{-1}{3}\)

\(\frac{3x-12}{3}-\frac{-1}{3}\)

3x = 12-1

3x = 11

x = \(\frac{11}{3}\)
