The volume of 50g of a substance is 20cm^(3) s. If the density of water is 1gcm^(3), will the substance float or sink.

Answer»

SOLUTION :If the density of an object is more than the density of liquid, then it sinks in the liquid. On the other hand if the density of an object is less than the density of a liquid, then it FLOATS on the surface of the liquid.
Here, density of the SUBSTANCE =Mass of the substance/ volume of the substance `=50//20=2.5gcm^(-3)`
The density of the substance is more than the density of water `(1GCM^(-3))`. Hence, the substance will sink in water.
