Answer» Solution :Antacids are weak bases which NEUTRALIZE excess of acid and give RELIEF from pain. Antacids like MILK of magnesia and sodium bicarbonate are weak bases. Tooth DECAY starts when the PH of the mouth is lower than 5.5. Tooth enamel, the hardest substance of our body, gets corroded where the pH is below 5.5. Tooth pastes are generally basic in nature and these neutralize the excess acid and prevent tooth decay. |
