What is a fuse ?Why is it called a safety device ?

Answer»

Solution :A fuse is a piece of wire of a metal or an alloy of low melting point and and is connected in SERIES with an electric circuit.
If a current LARGER than the specified VALUE flows through an electric circuit temperature of fuse wire rises beyond its melting point and the fuse malts. As a result, the electric circuit BREAKS. As a result, damage to electric circuitdue to flow of excessive current (either due to short circuiting or over LOADING) is prevented due to this very reason fuse is called a safety device.
