|
Answer» Solution :When a sodium salt of ethanoic acid is HEATED with soda lime (solid mixture of 3 parts of NaOH and 1 part of CaO), methane GAS is formed. During this reaction `CO_(2)` molecule is eliminated. Therefore, this reaction is called decarboxylation reaction. `underset(("Sodium acetate"))(CH_(3)COONa)underset(Delta)overset(NaOH//CaO)rarrunderset(("Methane"))(CH_(4)uarr)+Na_(2)CO_(3)` |
