Characteristics : 1. Melting and boiling points increase regularly with increase in molecular mass. 2. Solubility in a particular solvent SHOWS a regular gradation. 3. Chemical properties remain the same in the homologous series. Next higher homologue of HCOOH is `CH_(3)COOH`. Its name is ethanoic acid or acetic acid. |
