What is speciation ? What are the four factors responsible for speciation ? |
|
Answer» Speciation is the process in which one or more species arise from previously existing species. A single species may give rise to a new species or two different species may give rise to a new species. For example humans have evolved from dryoselectionSome factors which are responsible for the same are:1-Mutation: Mutation (random changes in genome) can also play a role in speciation. Sometimes crossing of two unrelated species can also lead to speciation and a new ferttile species can be formed. 2- 2. Geographical barriers: Geographical barriers such as mountain ranges, seas or rivers may produce a barrier to gene flow and the inability of organisms or their gametes to meet leads to reproductive isolation and hence speciation.3. Natural selection: Changes in allele and genotype frequencies within the populations, by natural selection.4-. Genetic drift: Genetic drift refers to the fact that variations in gene frequencies within populations can occur by chance rather than by natural selection. Random genetic drift may be an important mechanism in evolutionary change in small or isolated populations. In a small population not all the alleles which are representative of that species may be present. Chance events such as the premature accidental death prior to mating of an organism which is the sole possessor of a particular allele from the population. Please explain them?? It is the formation of new species from pre existing species . The four factors on which it depends r natural selection , genetic drift , flow of gene , and geographical isolation .....Hope it helps u ? |
