What was a civilising mission in vietnam. |
|
Answer» The \'Civilizing Mission\' of colonizers meant the spread of western culture, thoughts, education, language, science and logic in the colonies. The French felt, like many Europeans, that imperialist expansion had a noble aspect too. They thought that it was the duty of the superior races to educate and civilize the people of Asia and Africa. Due to this, French established many schools in Vietnam, in which Science, Philosophy and French were taught. But this did not prove to be a successful idea and had adverse effect, as it spread western culture at the cost of local Vietnamese culture which was often laughed at by the colonizers. Civilising mission was to educated the vietnamese and bring development in vietnam The french people suggested that the people of Vietnam are uncivilized and it\'s the duty of the civilized people to civilize them too, so they dominate veitnam under them as with the aim to civilize them. |
