What would you observe when zinc is added to a solution of Iron (II) sulphate? Write the chemical reaction that takes place.

Answer»

Solution : Zinc (Zn) is more reactive than IRON (Fe). HENCE, when it is added to iron (II) sulphate, it displaces the iron METAL. As a result, the COLOUR of the solution fades from GREEN to colourless due to formation of zinc sulphate, and the greyish black coloured iron metal gets displaced.
`Zn(s) + FeSO_4(aq) to ZnSO_4(aq) + Fe(s)`
