Which metal does not release hydrogen gas with nitric acid ? Why?

Answer»

SOLUTION : Hydrogen gas is not RELEASED when aluminium (Al) and chromium (Cr) react with NITRIC acid, because nitric acid `(HNO_3)`is a STRONG oxidising agent. It oxidises the H, produced to water and itself GETS reduced to any of the nitrogen oxides `(N_2O , NO "or" NO_2)`
