Answer» Because he felt that salt would reunite the hindus and muslims Salt was chosen as the central formula in civil disobedience moment because it was a commodity that every Indian could relate, be it poor,middle class,rich,dalits or brahman all used salt alike. Gandhi ji wanted to make the people aware about the oppressive policies which in this case was the ban on manufacturing of salt . He had a symbol in salt which had the potential to unite each and every community in India which had been a major shortcoming of the earlier Non-Cooperation Movement. |
