The most steering of all was the demand to abolish the salt tax▪ salt was the most essential item of food and was consumed by rich and poor alike▪ Arvind was unwilling to negotiate. So Gandhiji started salt march with 78 volunteers he reached Dandi violated law and made salt▪ This march developed the feeling of nationalism, people in different parts of the country broke the salt law and manufactured salt and demonstrated in front of government salt factories▪ This marked the beginning of civil disobedience movement The Salt March, which took place from March to April 1930 in India, was an act of civil disobedience led by Mohandas Gandhi to protest British rule in India. During the march, thousands of Indians followed Gandhi from his religious retreat near Ahmedabad to the Arabian Sea coast, a distance of some 240 miles. *Salt March:-It was started by gandhiji in order to put off the restriction of tax on salt . It was one of the most attractive demands, gandhiji asked to Irwin.This march has started from gandhiji\'s sabarmati ashram to dandi, coastal area of gujarat.There were 78 volunteers, later joined thousands of people including men , women , children, lower and higher sections of society etc.* |
