I recently PURCHASED a old Macintosh COLOUR Classic with a external CD Caddy (Apple CD 150) and a Macintosh IIvx to create simple MIDI songs as a hobby.
I was wondering if anyone is ABLE to tell me exactly what a CD Caddy is and if a CD tray is needed in order to use it etc.

I have been searching on the net endlessly and have been unable to find anything about them.

Thankies 1st GENERATION CD drives had a removable plastic holder which you inserted the CD's into. Then you PLACED the entire cassette into the drive. Is that what you have?

I am trying to BURN DATA to an Imation DVD+RW. My MAC G4 won't even open the disk for initiation. What might be the problem? I've tried several Imation disks. This problem does not exist for an apple DVD+ Rw.

HarryMaybe you should check with apple for compatable media, its POSSIBLE that the drive doesn't accept some brands.

My Advice would be to use ARITA or Nashua they mostly work on the G4.

I have an apple power pc that just DIED. I want to place the files/info on my backup floppy disks on my new GATEWAY PC. How do I go about "translating" the info so I can load it on my PC using Windows XP? Help!!!! I added a new Maxtor 120 G hard drive to my G3 Blue and white Mac , set it as slave, installed OS 10.2 , it crashed after a few weeks and now I can't get it to INSTALL again. It starts to install and then CRASHES and tells me unexpected error code 8 and restart the commuter. Any ideas? Do I have a bad hard drive? I've run disk repair several TIMES, sometimes it says minor error on mount check fixes it successfully, it says but it still finds same problem when I VERIFY it.

I am on a NEW app-idea and it requires that TWO PHONES(IPHONES) could connect with each other. I was wondering if there is such a code, software already in existence that does this: you hold the back or front of the two phones against each other and both the phones can receive data just by doing that. Girlfriend gave me her old iPhone 7 Plus 128GB 18 months ago and it has been running completely fine until Apple rolled out IOS 15.1

Was wondering if there was a means of rolling back to earlier version as info I find on Google seems to say it was a one way door as Apple killed off roll backs to prior to IOS 15.1

It has 98GB free of 128GB so I know its not an issue with it congested with too much stuff.

Prior to update to 15.1 it was fine. Now the issues I have with it are the following:

1.) Camera when taking a picture you tap the phone to take a picture and at a random point in tapping it will take a picture.
2.) Cant video call as for you have the video call ring and when you accept the call you see video but there is no audio.
3.) Placing Phone Calls the call connects but you can hear the other person but they cant hear you. If you call them its the other way around where they can hear you but you cant hear them.
4.) BACKING up my pictures and videos there is some corruption as some images wont open anymore and when attempting to copy them from iPhone to PC they will start to copy over and then error message and the copy fails. This has given me the ability to do a partial backup of the pictures and video content.

Wonders if Apple triggered a planned obsolescence in making this phone acts up to TRY to get me to buy newer with how messed up it is.

Things I tried so far is to delete apps as an attempt to find an APP that might be messing with iPhone and set it back to FACTORY with the mode of not deleting my data off the iPhone so my pictures and videos still remain.

Any suggestions on how to fix the iPhone or roll it back to prior than IOS 15.1?
Main suggestion I have would be to try 3uTools, which might be able to downgrade the iOS version.

I've used it with a cheap corporate-locked iPhone 6, I managed to get cheap on ebay a few years ago, and was able to remove the lock and use the phone without issue. downgrading the iOS version is another of their alleged features. You should just be able to Flash the firmware you want directly- You'll have to find the firmware file for the version you want, of course.

You can also use it for data transfer- could be more reliable than the method you are ALREADY using the copy?

I do not know if updating the firmware in this way will reset the user data.Thanks BC, going to try this out and no problem if it wipes all data clean on phone. Most of what I had for data wasnt critical. And iPhone 7 will be far better if rolling back this way fixes it. Will try this out later tonight when I get home from work.

Today, I started getting the error ["FILENAME" couldn't be uploaded. Try uploading the file again later] for every file FORMAT I try to upload, big or small, doesn't matter. Apple's System Status page says everything is fine with iCloud services.

Is the latest ipad mini worth buying?Depends on many factors. Depends on the need of the user and if it works for their application of it. PERSONALLY THOUGH I PREFER the larger screen of the standard iPad vs the mini. Others might like the mini better because smaller etc. If you already own an iPad I am not sure if it is something that you have to RUN out and buy the latest version of it though. But that once again comes down to the user and their needs. I tend to buy hardware and run it to the point of failure or to the point that something I want to do with it is no longer able to be done to which I am forced to buying newer if I want to do whatever it is. Something taking extra time to do because the processing power of it is slower, as long as it gets the job done and video display playback isnt choppy I will stick it out until it seriously feels like forcing an old device to do new tricks its seriously struggling at to the point that it gets annoying in user experience to it not keeping up with whatever I have it doing.

Consider getting a new printer with WiFi if your wife uses tablet often. It really saves much time.My printer is now operated wirelessly again and I thought if my wife clicked on find printer on her ipad she would find mine.When tried she tried it found my printer but then ASKS for the model name I thought the printer number which is DCP-J315W is the model but not sure now.

I have an iPhone 8 PLUS. I am looking for an app that will record my screen audio only (not video) like AUDACITY that I USE on my PC. Can anyone recommend a good app? I am not talking about recording my VOICE. For example, I like listening to talk radio podcasts and would like to record portions of the audio, save, and listen to later.

I cannot VIEW posts from nearly all TV news and newspaper FB pages on my IPHONE. I can see them on my computer or on desktop versions on the iPhone, but not the MOBILE site version on the iPhone or iPad. With ANY browser. I do NOT use the FB app on any device, and only for news STORIES and commenting.
I think it is a device/iOS issue, as I have no PROBLEM viewing or commenting on the same sites from my Windows laptop. It's a different story with all three iPhones and an iPad, however. (But only for most news sites I often VISIT; the handful of non-news sites I visit appear to be unaffected.) It could also be some kind of shadow ban or something by Facebook.
This all started slowly, only one FB page a month or so ago. Two iPhones iOS 14.6; iPad 12.5.4 I think.

I have 1 program that has to run within a DATE range. I want to run in on a separate USB hard drive and keep the date from changing. I need to set up the operating system in a FORMER date in STALL the program and then it must never advance to the current date - so each time I boot up to the USB drive I need to change the date before It tells the operating system the current date - can I do this?

Have you found any hidden feature in the macOS BigSur update? Mine is, Now you hear a sound on opening the lid of Macbook Pro on first boot.I like the two horizontal bars at the top right of the desktop, and the overall design is better IMHO. I suspect it keeps its processes running and NAMED in such a WAY that they cannot be attributed to Brave. I see other users are also experiencing this problem...

I have an iMac from 2009 running OS X El Capitan (v. 10.11.6). According to Apple, I cannot upgrade the OS any further. I also cannot use any other computer at the moment. I need to be able to use the latest version of Quickbooks Desktop for Mac, but it's not compatible with El Capitan. The Quickbooks support people recommend against BUYING an old version of Quickbooks (it would need to be the 2016 edition to be compatible with El Capitan). They recommended that I install Parallels Desktop 16 for Mac and then install the latest Quickbooks Desktop for Windows version INSTEAD. But I just saw that this newest version of Parallels is not compatible with El Capitan as the host OS. And I cannot seem to find a way to buy the older version of Parallels (version 14) that does work with El Capitan. Does anyone know where I can find it? If not, is there some virtualization application other than Parallels that would work with El Capitan? Or can anything be done using an external drive? Sorry I'm not tech savvy at all...just need to find a way to get the newest version of Quickbooks Desktop (for either Windows or Mac) to run on my iMac which has El Capitan. Thanks.Any solution is going to cost money.

Parallels running Windows 7 for example, is still using an unsupported windows version and you would need a Win7 license.
It will be cheaper in the long run to get a LATER or new mac. Or a Windows 10 computer I LOOKED on the Quickbooks website, it says there about the windows version: QuickBooks Desktop 2021 requires you to use Windows natively and not through an emulator or virtual environment.

I found that you can install Catalina if you patch it, watch the video on this website: (I cannot say myself if this has any drawbacks, I have never owned any Mac's, only used a couple)

Okay, so I know that to move files from a certain PC to my Macbook I need an external hard drive (or some other method, but this is the one I'll be USING).. but my question is this:
My mother picked me up a hard drive, but on the box it says "for pc's", so will my mac be able to read this and pull the files from it? I am assuming so because Mac seems readily adaptable to almost ANYTHING I have used on it, pc related or not. I didn't know however, if you needed an external hard drive that was compatible with both systems. I do feel safer using a PC product on my Mac then vice-versa in terms of workability. If anyone knows or has any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks either way! If the hard drive says "for Pc's" it could be formatted one of two ways: FAT or NTFS. If it's FAT, when you hook it up to your mac it should show up on the desktop. If it's NTFS, you'll need to format the drive in disk utility (on your mac) as a FAT drive, so you can use it on windows and on mac.

Hi I have had my MAC BOOK for aprx. 2 yrs and i wanted to back it up. when i click the time machine and set it to on it asks for a backup partition but there is NOTHING to click

In order to use time machine, you need to have something to backup to. Here are your two options:
1. An external hard DRIVE (I recommend this one)
2. a seperate partition on the same hard drive.

I highly recommend getting an external hard drive instead, as if your laptop were ever stolen, you'd have a backup on your external drive, instead of on another partition on the same drive.

External drives have BECOME very cheap now. You can get a 500GB-1TB drive for $100 or less.

Hello. I am using an iMac with a HP Scanjet 3670. I only recently hooked the scanner up to the iMac and have had it working okay. Today I tried a scan and I get an error report saying 'Sorry Scanner could not be INITIALIZED (scanner not found)'. ?Can anyone help me to get the scanner working again? Thank youi.Managed to solve the problem on my own, HOPE this helps someone else also:

1--Deleted all existing HP files on the iMac by doing an Uninstall (which was part of the HP Files in Applications).
2--Inserted the Scanjet 3670 SOFTWARE disc that came with it.
3--Downloaded the HP Update HP Photosmart Studio 9.3.5 with Universal Binary Support for Mac OS X 10.3 and 10.4

I have music from cds in my iTunes library. I want to put it on an mp3 player that is not an Apple product. Yay! I took it into the Apple store today and they gave me a new iPod only difference is that my old one was engraved. :l At least it works *shrugs*

Almost a iPod but does not really play MP4.

Hi, I'm a PC and I just got hired at a job using a Mac. I'm trying to fudge my way through but to be HONEST I don't know what I'm doing Luckily I only have to use it 1 or 2 hours out of my day. Is there anyone who knows were i can download a free copy of word perfect 12 for mac. or anything that WORKS with this.I don't know about word perfect, but I use Open Office on my Mac & it works pretty well for a basic word processing tool. It is compatible with windows/word documents too.

I myself use NeoOffice on a macbook, looks and feels like word on the PC and is free and is very good and very comprehensive. It is also compatible with all word docs, excel ect and does spreadsheets, presentations and the USUAL text documents ect, ect

well ill just get a MACBOOK pro for school, plus ill get a student discount You know i do have to agree its a waste of money. But schools should have at least older macs that PCs. When i log on to this crap, It takes for ever to load. At least a power mac G4 with 300Mhz processor would work better that these pcs. Or insta;; Mac osx on them through boot123I understand.I would like to ask a question about Mac pro(Desktop).I run a softwarestudio with Pro-Tools and sometimes lots of Plug-Ins (Softsynths,drumcomputers,limiters,samplers ect. ect.) and most other studios use Mac pro`s."They" all(or allmost all)tell me to SWITCH to a Mac desktop but NOBODY can tell me why they are so much better.I am thinking of upgrading (In a few months I`ll be at the limit of what my computer can handle)but the Mac pro is quite expensive,for this money I can buy a nice self-build computer.

Everytime I plug my iphone into my computer to sync with iTunes, it shuts iTunes down. Just got it back from geek squad...they couldn't fix it. They ran a diagnostic and found nothing. Upgraded my 1 gb to 2.5 gb...didn't fix the problem. Itunes works fine until I plug in the phone....it had the same reaction even with other iPhones plugged in and used other usb cords.

Does anyone have any SUGGESTIONS for what I should do next, or if I could try something else?

RachelTry reinstalling or updating iTunes. Also try different a USB port and don't use a hub. I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes several times, I've tried different ports and usb cables.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by don't use a hub, but if someone can tell me i'll try it!

You might also want to post your question on the Apple support forum. It's possible someone there has had the same problem.A USB hub is a device that allows many USB devices to be CONNECTED to a single USB port on a HOST computer or another hub.

Basically, don't connect your iPhone to anything else but plug it straight into your computer is what was meant.

I've got another topic about a hdd that i'll get back to shortly, but a question about this first.

As I'm sure we all know there's the 1000 notes limit on an IPOD. I have reached the point of that being a problem now. However, i noticed something interesting: I've actually got 1024 files in there, all readable. The thing with this as well is that i used one of those automatic converters for some of the files so that they were within 4KB. Those files don't appear as .txt files, they just appear as "File", and although i can open them on my ipod i can't on my computer. These files account for 31 of the notes on my ipod.

So, i was WONDERING if this was a way around the 1000 note limit?
Or is it a glitch, or a mistake, or something like that. Don't just answer though, has anyone tried this out?

I can't answer your question about the 1000 character limit (from experience), but I'm guessing it just has to do with the basic text viewing program they've put on the iPod, and that it might've been made to only handle 1000 characters as they didn't think most people would need more than that. Regardless, that's all speculation.

As far as not being able to view the files on your computer, it's probably just that your computer doesn't know what program to open them in because the extension (.txt or whatever) has been removed from the name. Try renaming the file to name.txt (obviously fill in name with whatever you had it named).
Hey bud, easy way to read Ebooks on the Ipod with out all those stupid restrictions is this.
Open outlook on your computer, Create a new contact, Set the Name and file name to the Book you are adding in there. then copy all the text from the txt file ebook to the Notes area in the contact. File --> Save the contact then file --> Export to vCard File --> SELECT your ipod --> CONTACTS --> Save here
Now eject the ipod, and go and view your contacts.

Bingo buddy! you now have a Ebook on your Ipod without any character restrictions and no need to be flipping through all those pages. The only real downfall of this is that it isnt seperated in pages, there for if you switch to your music and back again, your place you were at is gone and you gotta find. But if you are a Avid it shouldnt be a problem to find your spot again.

I redownloaded the sound driver PROGRAM on my computer last week and since then iTunes hasn't been recognizing the CDs I put into my computer! I've updated iTunes, I've tried restarting iTunes like 20 different ways, I've restarted my computer, I've reinserted five different CDs...

any other suggestions?...?are the cd's showing up in "my computer", and can you open them in windows media player? it may be a hardware problem. another thing you can try, under the itunes help menu, go to "run DIAGNOSTICS", select cd/dvd drive and run it to see if you can diagnose the problem that waydid you uninstall the old driver before installing the new one? If you did an install on top of an old one, do a full uninstall, drivers and hardware, and reinstall from SCRATCH

I have iPhone 3Gs. Kids use iPod nano. One computer, two separate user accounts on the one computer. Kids account is set up as limited, mine is administrator. Why can't kids download their ITUNES now? I don't use iTunes on phone (yet) have not tried to download any tunes on iPhone yet.You are the administrator, correct? Some programs are not installable on a limited account so you will install it. If the installer detects multiple accounts, it will (usually) ask if you want to install only on your account or if you want to install it for all users. Select the all users option and continue with the installation. The next TIME you reboot (or not) you should see the iTunes icon all all the users' desktops and they can run it. I have the same opinion and hopefully it will SORT out your PROBLEM. Try it once otherwise you can discuss it further.

Help please , I have an IPOD TOUCH and I am unable to sync to my itunes on my comp when I connect via the lead it does not show up at all it has been fine up until today . Start by reinstalling iTunes (or update to the latest version)also it could be a problem with the cable Reinstall iTunes or replace the cable. Check whether your comp is affected by virus.It may be that your ipod touch is password locked and not allowing the computer to gain access to it, or the cord may have become disfunctional or the usb port is BAD (unlikly though). Try and after you plug your ipod touch in, unlock the ipod by entering the password. If this does not help then reinstall itunes and make sure that it is up to date. Hope this information is helpful. This happens to me more often than I like. Steps that generally solve the issue (after each step, try plugging it in):

1. Try different port. (try all of them)
2. Restart computer.
3. Restart iPod.
4. Step 1.
5. Re-install iTunes.
6. Steps 2, 3, 1 (in that order).


Those should work. Try them in the order given first. try latest version of i tune software. Also look for cable change. Hopefully you will get desired result.
